Random word assignment.
Had to do an illustration based off 3 random words. My words were: concession, klondike(which is a river in the Yukon also, not just the bar!), and barracks. This is what i came up with. I like the simplicity of it and had a lot of fun drawing and painting it and I defintely feel like i'm starting to bring more of my sketchbook work into my "finished" images. However I feel it's a little too close to Mr. Weber for comfort. That is something i'm struggling with but I try not to dwell on it too much and believe it will eventually work itself out.

Also for anyone interested here's a good article that one of my IA teachers aka Sterling Hundley wrote about the subject. Read it here.

News
I'm on Ohger now. It's a new site for illustration students and graduates one year out of school. Made by the same guys who run Drawger, it's just starting to take off. Check it out.

This is something I did for Chris Buzelli for "Hot Off the Presses" in Soojin Buzelli's PlanAdviser. He liked it, but unfortunately when he showed it to Soojin, she said it was too creepy. Damn! the one time I didn't do a pretty girl it backfires on me haha. Disappointing, but i'm going to do another one and see how it goes!
Also some sketchbook pages. Been using my crappy nibs as "palette knives" to move the inks around.

oh for real?
So i'm back at school and can finally scan some stuff. I have more to scan but the lab is closing so i'll do that another time. Also i'll try to put up some finished work, especially some of the work i did during the illustration academy. Anyways this is what i've been doing this summer. However i've changed the way i work in my sketchbook. I used to just go page by page but lately i've been jumping around a lot. I've also been painting over things...but not just things i didn't like...but over things i did like, which i guess is kind of stupid but i feel like it helps me move forward. So there are some repeats here, some obvious, some not (if you look really closely you can see some things underneath from earlier posts.) Anyways, that's it for now. peace and love!
