The sketch for the next painting.
this one is a bit larger so i'm giving myself the rest of the semester to finish it. the sketch is 7" x 10" and the final painting will be 21" x 30".

got to draw

Well since i feel like i've been slacking on sketchbooking. i decided that i would force myself to draw everyday. it's only been three days but i don't feel like i'm "forcing" myself anymore...more like just drawing. for some reason on the last page, my pen kept exploding everywhere, especially when i was doing eyes. so all the eyes are deep black holes. which is really creepy looking.

Hello! updates have been kind of random lately because i'm working on so many things at once. but hopefully i'll be able to post some more finished work soon. and more sketchbook stuff.
but for now, another sketch...

for an assignment
triptych involving an animal, i chose crows/ravens.
and we also have to include text somehow.

I don't think i've touched watercolor since i was in elementary school and drew dinosaurs all day. But i'm in a watercolor class so here they are.

it was fun to use pencil and go in and render again.
and stare at the details and subtle changes in values.
similar but different mindset from the pen.

beginning

Feel like i've been slacking on the updates.
so here are two sketches of two paintings (of hopefully three) i'm hoping to finish by the end of the semester. taking less classes to give myself time to do some personal stuff.
the first is 4.5" x 6".
the second is 4" x" 5.5"
just to give you an idea of how large the sketches are.

not that it's old really, but because i've done so much since then.
there are some things i would change if i were to start this over.
but i'm posting it because i found out this was selected for the SI student competition show and stuff...yay.

Finally scanned some pages!
i've been finding more and more pleasure in drawing these days.
i feel so relaxed, cliche i know, but quite true!
also my friend claire is doing a sketchbook project.
i've tagged along on a few of her sketch trips to the coffee shop.

i am so so with how it came out, but i am happy from what i've learned from doing this piece. feels like my confusion with the the work i've been doing, will be doing and what i want to be doing has gone away, or at least died down a little.
all the pictures came out shitty so i'll just wait until i have access to a scanner to post the final.
